Process of Determination Application
Our task was to first investigate, research and describe the process of determination for the design and control of chemical processes. A second step included the application of PoD in four different case studies, to evaluate its applicability in large scale plant wide operations. PoD is used to design control systems plant wide based on the use of degree of freedom. Each sub unit is investigated locally and each units outlet is the next units inlet, effectively reducing available degrees of freedom by one. Each constraint or equation [mass and heat balance, correlation, etc] reduces the degrees of freedom by one. The finally acquired degrees of freedom are the same with the required controllers/ regulators. Our work was successful in both parts; an excellent feedback was left by our client for this project.
